Support the Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital

Together we can save local wildlife

It’s heart breaking but true. Every day, countless native animals suffer from injuries, illness, and displacements. In 2022–2023 alone, over 11,500* animal cases were reported to local wildlife carers in the Northern Rivers.

Without specialised care, many of these animals won’t survive. Our region is home to some of Australia’s most unique and vulnerable wildlife – but right now, local carers, vets and wildlife hospitals are under a huge amount of pressure, with not enough facilities, staff and resources to meet demand. That’s where you – and NRWH – come in.

The Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital (NRWH) is building a state-of-the-art facility in Wollongbar to give sick, injured, and orphaned animals the best chance at recovery and release back into the wild.

Each animal needs tailored care, from triage to surgery to time in a rehabilitation enclosure. With your help, we’re not just saving individual animals – we’re creating long-lasting change to protect wildlife and biodiversity in our region for generations to come.

But we can't do it alone. Will you help us?

This is your wildlife hospital too. As a community-owned hospital, we rely on the generosity and involvement of people like you to make this vision a reality. Every contribution brings us closer to opening our doors and saving lives.

A message from our Chair

“There is a global crisis in the decline of native wildlife, and here in the Northern Rivers – one of Australia’s richest biodiversity regions – our animals are under increasing pressure from habitat loss, disease, and injury.

The Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital (NRWH) is our response to this crisis, providing the essential care these animals need to survive and thrive.

Whether through a donation, becoming a Friend of NRWH, volunteering your time, or partnering with us as a sponsor, your support directly helps save lives and ensures a future for our precious wildlife. I invite you to join us!”
