The Story of a Christmas Miracle
If you’re looking for a feel good story this festive season, we’d love to introduce you to Gus.
Gus is a tiny feathertail glider who arrived at the Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital in urgent need of care. His eyes were still sealed. He was cold, alone and desperately needed the warmth of his mum.
He had fallen from his mother’s pouch and was found hidden amongst leaves, shivering, with no sign of her anywhere. Thankfully, a quick thinking and caring member of our community spotted Gus, gently scooped him up, tucked him into a sock and brought him straight to our hospital.
When Gus arrived, the very first thing our team did was warm him. From there, specialised milk formula was carefully prepared and tiny feeds began every two hours, day and night.
At that stage, Gus was no bigger than a jelly bean.
At that size, every feed matters.
Every moment counts.
So what happened next?
This Christmas, we’re sharing Gus’s story with you week by week. His journey is still unfolding, and this is just the beginning.
If you’d like to help Gus, and other sick, injured and orphaned native animals just like him, we invite you to Give to Gus this holiday season.

Plus, as a small thank you, if you give $200 or more to Gus this holiday season, you’ll receive a FREE wildlife plushie!*
