It’s almost Christmas time in the Northern Rivers, and while we celebrate the festive season, our local wildlife is facing one of its toughest times of the year. Known as “trauma season,” this time sees a dramatic increase in the number of injured, sick, and orphaned animals needing urgent care.
At the Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital (NRWH), we’re working tirelessly to be there for them—but we can’t do it alone. This Christmas, we’re inviting you to join us in making a real difference for our region’s precious wildlife through our Christmas Wish Appeal.
Wildlife carers across the Northern Rivers are overwhelmed. Last year, over 11,000 native animals were rescued in our region, and this number is expected to be even larger this year with carers experiencing a record number of call outs. From road accidents to habitat loss, these animals are suffering, and existing services are struggling to keep up.
This is where the Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital comes in. We’re so close to opening our doors in Wollongbar, where we’ll be able to provide centralised care, easing the burden on local vets and carers and ensuring faster response times. But to make this a reality, we urgently need your help to fund vital medical equipment and supplies.
This year, we have an amazing opportunity to maximise the impact of your generosity. Thanks to a generous sponsor, every dollar you donate will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
That means:
Your donation will go twice as far, helping us provide care for even more injured and orphaned animals when the hospital opens its doors.
Your support will directly fund essential items like:
With your help, we’ll be able to respond to wildlife emergencies quickly and effectively, giving these animals the best possible chance of survival and rehabilitation.
This Christmas, you can be a hero for wildlife in the Northern Rivers. By donating to the Christmas Wish Appeal, you’re not just giving a gift—you’re giving injured and orphaned animals a second chance at life.
